Picture of the Day, 2017.10.12

31731174925_b76d751757_oHow many GBHs can you find in this photo? When I first took in this sight, it looked from a distance away there there was bunch of roseate spoonbills hunkering down around an old piling sticking up from out of the marsh. On further examination (after I’d gotten home ans reviewed the image) that that “piling” actually was a great blue heron. Still closer examination review several other great blue herons out in the marsh. How many can you count? Picture taken Nov. 10, 2016, at the South Padre Island (Texas) Birding & Wildlife Center. Nikon D7100, Tamron 150-600mm lens, ISO 800, f6.3, 1.1000th sec., 600mm (DX 900mm). © 2016 John M. Hudson
